Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) impresses with its excellent dimensional accuracy and stability, low tendency to creep, and high abrasion resistance. Compared to PET, semi-crystalline PBT offers slightly lower strength but improved impact resistance at low temperatures. Typical applications for PBT include slide bearings, roller bearings, valve parts, screws, connector strips, pump housings and wheels, as well as parts for household appliances such as coffee machines, egg cookers, toasters, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, and cooking devices. Various PBT types are offered with special modifications: easy-flowing, flame-retardant, highly impact-resistant through elastomer modification, as well as reinforced or filled to increase stiffness, strength, and wear resistance or to reduce the coefficient of sliding friction.
